Inspired by J.R.R. Tolkien's magical Rivendell from The Lord of the Rings, Rivendell Lodge is a hidden gem nestled in the Himalayas, Just like the enchanting elvish valley, our lodge is tucked away in a serene, picturesque corner of Deboche, embraced by majestic mountains and a rushing, crystal-clear river.
Our Beginings
Rivendell Lodge’s journey began with a small teashop, lovingly managed by a couple, Tenzing and Ang Jangmu. Tenzing, who was a secretary to Tengboche Rinpoche, brought his patience and support to the venture. Jangmu, with her extensive experience from working in Austria, infused the business with her expertise.
Magical Place
Guided by their deep belief in the mountain gods and blessed by Tengboche Rinpoche, their combined efforts transformed the teashop into Rivendell Lodge. The name "Rivendell" was inspired by one of Jangmu’s early customers, who remarked on the striking resemblance between their location in Debuche and Rivendell, the elven valley from "The Lord of the Rings." Captivated by this magical comparison, Jangmu chose to keep the name.
